Dream Studio and Hara Allison

In early summer, I was able to assist a friend in a new studio, within Spokane. I fell in love immediately. Dream Studio on 2nd Ave is everything I could hope for in a creative space. There’s an industrial feel in peak through brick walls and a design aesthetic that catches the eye.

The owner, Hara Allison, is also amazing to work with. Since helping said friend in early Summer, I have had the chance to work with Hara on several sets and assist with lighting. One of these sets was her halloween set she was doing. I was able to take a picture of her for a class assignment, in front of said set.

This assignment was meant to be an environmental shot, using the environment to define the individual. In this case I ended up doing a more editorial or portrait shot. I also learned a bit about using multiple;tiple light sources and getting better at framing, as I tend to cut one side off my subjects.

Through this experience, and the nerves of photographing someone I respect, I was able to get a couple images I like but the experience allowed me to learn and better define different photographic styles.

I also highly recommend checking out Hara Allison Photography7 and Dream studio on instagram.
